Pune Ring Road
Government of Maharashtra had approved the proposal of Pune Ring Road outside Pune and Pimpri Municipal Corporation in Pune District Regional Plan vide notification dated November 25, 1997 for 90 meter width. Subsequently, the Government notified via notification dated 07/09/2013 a new road network has been approved in the area around 10 km outside the boundary of Pune, Pimpri – Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.
Government of Maharashtra, vide notification dated 17/03/2017 has approved 110 metre wide Ring Road around the city instead of originally proposed 90 metre wide. Also Government of Maharashtra, vide notification dated 13/09/2019 changes alignment at Wadki, Mnagdewadi, Shivne, Bhugaon, Lavle, Sus and Dehu.
The length of the Pune Ring Road project is about 128.08 km. Total project cost including land acquisition cost of Rs. 5800 Cr. is projected to be ₹ 17,412 Crore in year 2016-17
Salient Features of the Pune Ring Road

Ring Road is planned to execute in four different phase – Phase I (Solu Interchange – Vadgaon Shinde (Nirgudi) – 4.80 km), Phase II (Pune – Ahmednagar road to Solapur Road-71.89 km), Phase III (Pune – Solapur Road to Pune – Satara Road – 21.23 km) and Phase IV (Pune – Satara Road to Parandwadi Interchange – 44.80 km).
The main purpose of the Pune Ring Road is to divert the heavy vehicular traffic thereby reducing the traffic congestion, in the city of Pune. Also the suburban area will be developed and will be connected to the main road. Government of Maharashtra, via notification dated 14/06/2016 declared PMRDA as developing authority for Ring Road.
Project is in preliminary stage
Out of 128.08 Km length, common stretch of Ring Road from Parandwadi Interchange to Solu Interchange (Km 126/08 to 128/08 and Km 0/000 to 36/000) is handed over to MSRDC for development on dt. 31/05/2021. For remaining 88.08 km proposal is submitted to Government for reducing width 110 m to 65 m, also Government published notification of 2013 dt. 18/11/2021 for width of Ring Road 65 m for 88.08 km length. Ring Road is incorporated in Draft DP of PMR for 88 km length and 65 m width.
No Objection Certificate is given to PMC for Development of Part Ring Road from Wagholi – Nirgudi (Length 6.19 km).
Land procurement is in progress through different method like Town Planning Scheme, F.S.I. /T.D.R., direct purchase, to hand over Government land in lieu of private land wherever it is possible
