Hon’ble Governor of Maharashtra
After the election of Maharashtra Governor Shri. C. P. Radhakrishnan as the Vice President of India, Gujarat Governor Shri Acharya Devvrat has been entrusted with the additional responsibility of serving as the Governor of Maharashtra. Earlier, he served as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh from 12 August 2015 to 21 July 2019, and has been holding office as the Governor of Gujarat since July 2019.
Shri. Acharya Devvrat has dedicated over 44 years to educational, social, and cultural upliftment. He brings with him 22 years of experience in Yoga Science and Naturopathy, along with 34 years of expertise in teaching and educational administration. Highly respected in national politics, he served as the Principal of Gurukul Kurukshetra in Haryana from 1981 to 2015, during which the institution achieved remarkable growth and development.
As Governor of Himachal Pradesh, he lead several unique initiatives, including zero-cost natural farming, cow husbandry and breed improvement, “Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao,” social harmony, addiction prevention, “Swachh Himachal Abhiyan,” as well as campaigns on tree plantation and water conservation, all of which saw extensive public participation.
During his tenure in Gujarat, particularly amid the Covid-19 pandemic, he initiated the “Corona Seva Yagya” through the Raj Bhavan, providing essential supplies and health equipment to one lakh needy individuals. He also launched a campaign across all universities in Gujarat on the occasion of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, which continues to receive an overwhelming response from the youth.
A respected figure across the nation, Shri. Acharya Devvrat consistently works to spread nationalist thought and Indian culture. Through his lectures on Vedic human values and philosophy, his efforts to guide the youth towards social and moral values, and his initiatives to popularize Yogic and Vedic lifestyles, he continues to inspire large sections of society.
