6. Construction of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) near Manas Lake, Bhukum

Water from Manas Lake at Bhukum Village flows into the Ram River, passes through Bhugao Village, and ultimately joins Pashan Lake within Pune Municipal Corporation limits. During this stretch, untreated sewage is discharged into the river, resulting in pollution. In this regard, a Public Interest Litigation is pending before the Hon. National Green Tribunal (NGT).

Bhugao and Bhukum villages fall under the jurisdiction of Pune Municipal Corporation and are also within the PMRDA area. PMRDA has prepared sewerage expansion estimates and layouts for both villages.

Accordingly, a 3.5 MLD capacity Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at a cost of ₹7.68 crore is being constructed near Manas Lake on the Ram River at Bhukum Village. Work orders have been issued, and the work is presently in progress.
