1. Indrayani River Improvement Project
(River length within PMRDA area: 87.5 km)
The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Indrayani River Improvement Project has been submitted to the National River Conservation Directorate (NRCD) of the Central Government. As per PMRDA Development Authority Resolution dated 24/09/2024 (Resolution No. 11/10), administrative approval amounting to ₹793 crore has been accorded. Funding for the project is proposed in the 60:40 ratio between the Central and State Governments.
In the meeting chaired by the Hon. Chief Secretary on 22/05/2025, instructions were issued to prepare and submit a combined DPR covering the entire length of the river flowing through the PCMC and PMRDA areas. Further, the Hon. Principal Secretary directed that no village should be left out in the combined proposal and that any omissions should be rectified in the revised proposal.
Accordingly, seven villages located along the left bank of the Indrayani River adjoining the PCMC limits, which were earlier not included, have now been incorporated. A combined DPR amounting to ₹1,797 crore (PMRDA – ₹837 crore, PCMC – ₹960 crore) has been prepared and submitted to the River Rejuvenation Committee. The proposal was forwarded by the Environment Department, Government of Maharashtra, to the NRCD, Government of India, for approval on 11/08/2025.
For post-tender activities, M/s Tandon Urban Solutions Pvt. Ltd. has been appointed as the consultant after completing due process. Tenders for appointment of contractors for project implementation have been issued through the consultant.

- For villages with a population above 15,000, STPs (Sewage Treatment Plants) are
proposed- Kusgaon Budruk – 1 MLD
- Kamshet-Khadakale – 2 MLD
- Induri – 2 MLD
- For 15 out of 39 villages with a population below 15,000, a combined STP of 5.5
MLD is proposed. - In-situ Nala Treatment is proposed for the remaining 24 villages.
- Installation of 8-foot railing with mesh on river bridges to prevent dumping of plastic
and other waste. - Removal and complete disposal of water hyacinth from the river is planned.
Detailed Project Report (DPR): Evaluated by IIT-Roorkee and submitted to the National River Conservation Directorate under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, for final approval.
